                                                          PLUMERIA

Somebody put a cutting on a sidewalk for free and I picked it up. Let it callous for 3 days and planted it. So happy to see new growth in a week and flowers to boot. I don't have this color of Plumeria so I                                                                     am so excited. Freebies don't come by too often.

                                                          Epiphyllum Dutchman's Beard

This variety of Epiphyllum looks different from the rest. The leaves are softer and thinner. It is easy to propagate and does well in the Los Angeles area. It has a very nice fragrance but the flowers don't last very long.

I made several succulent pumpkin arrangements this year to sell. I sold 45 arrangements mostly smaller ones. I had lots of fun doing this.  It is time consuming but easy to make. I am growing my succulents in the ground to provide me more cuttings.

                                                            AEONIUM SUNBURST

This is my favorite kind of Aeonium. They are so pretty right now with the cooler nights we are having.  All Aeoniums are waking up after summer dormancy.  I am trying to propagate them as I see small babies. Am  planting them in the ground- they get much bigger and healthier.

Kalanchoe. Mother of thousands or Millions.

This plant multiplies like crazy, by dropping those babies. They are easy to grow and loves being in the sun. The babies grow on the edge of each leaf and I leave them there until they drop.

                                                     ECHEVERIA MAHOGANY

Echeverias are my favorite succulents, along with Sempervivums. They are easy to grow and propagate . Requires light shade/partial sun. They also comes in different shades and colors. This one was given to me as a cutting. It needs to callous for 3-5 days before planting in soil.

Euphoria Milii- large yellow flowers. I love these lines of Euphorbias. They are easy to grow and propagate. Just remember to callous the cuttings before planting them or else they will rot. I got this plant a year ago, planted in a 2 " pot- look at it now. Fertilize regularly with a slow release fertilizer, like Osmocote.

I have no  name for this plant. It was given by a friend and it didn't have any label. It is not very common. I love the way it fills out the  shallow pot. Easy to grow. Please comment if you know the name of this plant.

STAPELIA GIGANTEA
Giant Carrion flower. This plant is easily propagated from cuttings, which should be left out for at least a week  to form callus tissue before they are planted. a fair amount of water is tolerated during the active growth period in the summer.  must keep plant  fairly dry during winter months.

I am looking for this curly plant. I know it is available here in California but have not seen it in the nurseries I have visited. I don't even have the name for it. I saw a picture online that it also produce a yellowish flower. Will post again when I learn more about this plant.

Echeveria Lola. I love echeverias, but this one is my favorite. My grandchildren calls me LOLA (grandma in Tagalog).  This is easy to grow and propagate- takes partial shade. You have to watch out for mealy bugs as they love this kid of succulent. I maintain it by spraying it with alcohol once in a while or as soon as I see Mealy bug infestation.

Monday, June 20, 2016

Went to Morro Bay this weekend and saw this beautiful variegated Agave. Have not seen this before - it was very healthy and full  I guess it is because of the great  seaside weather they have there .
This is my first time to order plants by mail. Received these epiphyllum  cuttings in good condition . Was instructed to plant it right away, and wait 2 weeks before watering. I am supposed to miss it when soil gets dry.

This how you can tell between Christmas Cactus, Easter cactus, and Thanksgiving cactus. Interesting. I thought they were all the same but the  flowers and leaves look different, and they bloom at different times.
Euphorbia Milii- this is one of my favorites. It has beautiful, large salmon /pink  flowers and it blooms all year round in California. I had to shield it from the occasional frost in the winter. Very easy to grow and propagate.

Monday, May 30, 2016

Euphorbia Medusa. I have several plants from the same species and they all look different. I propagate it from the same mother plant and they all come out with a different look, I think dependendent on sun exposure. It gives a lot of small yellow flowers in the Spring and summer.

This is my first yellow epiphyllum. What a pleasant surprise.  NOID.
